Hudson's Preschool Graduation

Hudson attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool all last year. He went three days a week and it was great for him! His very best friend Craig was there too and they had a fun time hanging out together 3 days a week. It also worked out for me because Craig's wonderful momma agreed to drive Hudson to and from for me since Nolan had to be at school 28 miles away at the same time!!! They did a very sweet graduation program and here are a few pictures from that night.

A New Haircut

My boys has been trying to convince me for MONTHS to let him get "a Daddy haircut". I have held him off until now. "A Daddy haircut" is a buzz cut. It is short. It is REALLY short. It made me very nervous for several reasons...
1. What if he has a funky shaped head under all that hair? I mean that would be just tragic.
2. What if Hudson hated it? It isn't like we can just braid it a new way or put in a pretty bow until it grows out. You know what I mean?
3. It's a buzz cut on MY BOY!
Well needless to say they finally convinced me to let him do it. So we made the big hair cut the other day. The funniest part of all of this? Josh ended up getting the clippers caught in his hair (not on purpose they just got tangled) and I had to end up cutting his hair...you know the one who didn't want it done in the first place!!!
Okay so a before shot.
And the after.
The worst part? I didn't get to take any pictures since I was the one that ended up doing all the cutting. Bummer :( thankfully the before is like two weeks ago and the after was the next day! I sure do love this kid!

X-Rays and Curls

So we closed on the house on that Thursday and we ran over there to collect the garage door openers and all of those fun things. Hudson thought to celebrate it would be a really fun idea to jump down some of the stairs. Well he hurt his foot pretty bad. I mean it is a good thing this kid is cute or man would he be dead already!

So on Friday while sissy was in school. Nolan and I took Hudson for X-rays of his foot. After that we stopped to get a haircut for Hudson (he has been asking for weeks). While we were there Nolan said he wanted his haircut too! So I sucked it up and let him, as he said, "Look ike Brubber". This is the result....

How big does this kid look? Where did my baby go? All those curls all gone. The haircut was a little traumatic... just because while we were sitting there the hair stylist next to us turned on her clippers... the rest of the hair cut had to be done while he was sitting on my lap with his cheek glued to mine :) Poor buddy. Poor all grown up, big boy haircut, all the curls gone buddy.

Love these boys!

A Mouse's Tale

Our church did the cutest Christmas Program this year. It was called a Mouse's Tale. Leanna was an adorable Julie Mouse and Hudson had the cutest little role as Darryl the Donkey! It was all about the animals in the stable and their story about the night baby Jesus was born. Truly a fun and funny and heartwarming little story. Our friends were shepherds and Cory the dancing Camel and some truly funny sheep.

Some pictures from the play. With the stipulation these pictures aren't the greatest and I am so thankful I videotaped this play. It was so funny and so sweet.

The kids worked so hard on this play and did a truly wonderful job. I am so thankful for my small people who were so excited to do this play with family and friends.

Hudson's PreSchool Program!

I love watching my boy sing I must say. His preschool play for Christmas was so much fun and they all did such a great job!

Some pictures of the fun event!

These kids were so cute! They did such an amazing job.

Of course I had to take a picture of me and my boy! Our favorite pictures somehow always end up being the silly face ones.

He was so serious when he was singing. It was fun to watch my normally all over the place boy stand so very tall and still and concentrate on making sure he did it right.

Hudson and his classmates all worked really hard and did a great job!
It was a great way to end our week and start really getting into the Christmas spirit.

Fall Fun with Friends

Hudson's very best friend Craig got to come over and play while his momma went on a field trip with one of his brothers. I decided since it was a cold and rainy day to try and have some kind of plan...

So thanks to pinterest we made fall fingerprint trees. Thankfully everyone had a good time and it took the better part of almost two hours. Which for the boys is a long amount of time of sitting still and being interested in what I have them doing!

It was a fun afternoon :)

Busy, Busy, Busy

It seems like here lately all we do is run around! But the kids are involved in some great things and so we just keep going, going and going!

Leanna and Hudson are both doing soccer and karate. Leanna is in 1st grade now (which makes me feel super old), Hudson is doing 3 days a week at preschool as is Nolan. They both go on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Thankfully I have a great friend who is able to help with drop off and pick-up because Nolan's school is so very far away.

Nolan is just doing crazy well at school though! He loves it. His language and speech development in just the last two months since school started is insane to me! We went from maybe 10-20 words
(that others could understand) he probably has between 75 and 100 now! We are still working on the getting him to wear his hearing aids ALL the time without taking them out or hiding them or losing them. But we are getting so much better.

Hudson has surprised me with how well he is doing with school. To be honest I expected him to be in trouble for being to rough or not paying attention...but that hasn't been the case at all! He loves school and has made friends. It has been awesome! He is learning to write his letters and has started to show an interest in learning how to read.

Leanna is rocking the school thing. She tested for the REACH program at the end of the school year last year and she passed! REACH is an acronym for recognizing excellence in Academic and Creative Honors. She loves it. She gets to go and hang out with other REACH kids once a week and they work on unit studies (they just finished a CSI study and she learned about things like DNA and fingerprints and evidence processing! It was very cool)

So we are just humming along with lots going on! Soccer finishes up in the next two weeks and I am sad to say but I am excited it is almost finished. It will be nice to not have to schedule everything around soccer practices and games for a little while!

Time to run. Laundry is calling to me!

Day 7...Superheros!!!

Everyone needs a hero. I am so thankful that I get to have a SUPERhero! Everyday my little man plays superheros. He dresses up into some costume or cape or something! Sometimes he dresses on his own in his new Spiderman costume (I got it half off after Halloween for 5.50!!!) Then our friend Ms. Heather gave Hudson a cape with bolts of lightning and skulls and cross bones on it for his birthday this year and he pretends to be all sorts of things.

So far this past two weeks alone. He has been Captain Underpants, Captain Electrode (this is a new one since Halloween when he is this we have to listen the Monster Mash so everyone can get a "charge from my electrodes"), Captain Skeletor. It is amazing the superhero identities he can come up with. It is crazy just how creative he can get!

The most awesome part of this you ask??? When Hudson is in superhero disguise he is one of my best helpers!!! Often you can hear things like this "Mom don't worry Captain "so and so" can get that" or "Captain _____ to the rescue" and whatever secret identity he chooses for the day is usually amazing enough to make Nolan laugh big giant belly laughs!

Today Superhero Hudson was amazingly helpful with Nolan who is feeling a little under the weather from his shots he had this week.

Thankful for my helpful superhero. Thankful for costumes and dress up that keep my little man busy and happy for a large part of our day!

"I got big at my birthday"

That is a direct quote out of my son's mouth today. Someone asked him when he had gotten so big and Hudson replied, "I got big at my birthday".

He did get big. He seems like a little boy instead of my baby. I know I know he isn't my baby anymore...but can he be for a little longer?

That boy makes me smile. He is such a fun and energetic small person. There is no task he doesn't meet with exuberance. He is friendly and caring. He is whiny and scared. He holds my hand. He likes to have his back scratched.

A conversation today...

Momma: "Hudson what do you want for your birthday"
Hudson: "Momma my dream came true already"
Momma: "It did? What was your dream?"
Hudson: "It didn't rain and I got to be a cowboy with all my friends!"

I love him so much. He has such an awesome little heart. He loves his sister and idolizes Daddy. Daddy can do no wrong! He wants to be a fireman, a cowboy, a pilot, a jumper, 'da Charter Man and a astronaut! He has such a creative and imaginative spirit. There is no game he won't invent or place he doesn't get to travel to.

He loves to run and jump and play. However, he also loves to snuggle. Which to be honest is my favorite thing about him. He will curl up next to me on the couch or in our bed and watch a movie. He holds my hand when we go for a walk. It melts my heart to see him smile.

Happy Birthday my sweet sweet boy. I hope 4 is as awesome and amazing and as TOTALLY WICKED (which is his favorite thing to say right now) as 3 was.

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.

Love Momma

Teddy Bear Picnic

If you go down to the woods today you're sure to get a surprise.
If you go down to the woods today you won't believe your eyes.
For every bear that ever there was is gathered there together because
Today is the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic!

Leanna has been learning all about camping in summer school this week. Hudson being the "manly" boy he is has been upset that he can't go to school this week.

So the other day she came home with some Teddy Bear binoculars. Hudson wanted them immediately. So we talked about how sissy is going to do some cool stuff at school but that we can do cool stuff too. Still together and at home.

*Cue inspirational heavenly music and light*

I started singing that song on the way home and got a great idea!

We had a Teddy Bear picnic. Complete with blanket on the floor. And appropriate snacks in my living room. Yeah non-believers I ALLOWED PEANUT BUTTER IN THE LIVING ROOM!!! I have pictures to prove it. Nolan was napping which helped this be a success I must admit.

It was a ton of fun and hopefully will be memorable if nothing else. They even brought "real" play food for their stuffed animals.

Some pictures of the event...
The first arrivals were Hudson (his name seriously is Hudson even written on his TY tag) and Eagly (I know Hudson is sooo orginal) and yes Hudson chose a chicken leg as Eagly's sanck.

This is the crew we ended up with. Elephants and Bears and Eagles OH MY!

They really got into it! They played for about an hour while eating apples and peanut butter and pretzel sticks to dip too.

The binoculars that started said picnic? Yeah he watched from the table for the entire shin dig!

I have to admit it was pretty fun! Plus it gave us a great activity that they had a blast with and we had some fun family time too. Sometimes great ideas come to us in the form of "Bear Binoculars" who knew?

Definitely a Finer Thing Friday even if it happened on a Wednesday afternoon right? I love making memories with them.

Ummm so yeah....

It has been an emotional couple of weeks at the Brewer household. Crazy and emotional and busy and crazy.

I am a momma to an ALMOST kindergartner cause yeah that post earlier??? There will be another on her actual first day of kindergarten because well I have to write it. So I can have it. So I can remember the feelings and the crazy that go with being a momma...Not gonna lie I want to have it in writing so when I print this book for this year I have it all!

My days now are filled with just my boys. It is fun filled and a little crazy and a little weird. The dynamic has shifted. Hudson is the oldest at home now. Nolan still my baby.

Activities have changed from playing house and tea party ('cause well Leanna was pretty darn convincing) to... boy things like shoot 'em up bad guys and cars relay races in the kitchen and Spiderman instead of Little Mermaid (did I mention Leanna was convincing?)

I am so thankful to be a momma to such different and exciting personalities. God sure knew what he was doing when He gave me all my small people.

This guy here...

He knocks my socks off ladies

and this guy here...

Well I wouldn't trade him for a million bucks...

But this girl here....

I kinda miss her. In all of her awesome bossy and "convincing" ways.

Sweet Moments

Skipping the tell part. Here's the show!

So thankful that they love each other. They have their moments like any sibling group does. But there is love there.

Dear God,
May there always be that outward showing of affection. May they always stand together. Thank you for blessing me with them! Help me raise them to love one another. Help us to raise them to love others. Help remind me everyday that being their momma is the greatest job I will ever have. Thank you for Leanna and her kind although mothering ways. Thank you for the energy that is Hudson and the excitement he brings to every little thing. Thank you for the smile, the love, the new and exciting things Nolan brings to our family. Thank you for your Son and the grace you give me each new day with these little ones.
Amen.

In which we attempt the "Trifecta" Shot

We took a brief jaunt to the park (pictures of that to come later) this week and I took the new camera and thought we would at least try to get a shot of the three small people together.

Here are a few of those shots...

I think there is a Leanna in this one somewhere...Oh is she that washed out little girl with so much sun in her face you can't tell who she is?

Hudson looks oh so thrilled doesn't he? Nolan was more interested in his toes than even thinking about giving mom the time of day.

I promise .3 seconds before they were all looking at me. No. Really. Honest.

This is the best shot we got that day BY FAR and I still don't like it much...

Guess I will just have to keep trying!

The boys

Oh the boys, the boys, the boys, they bring me so much joy.

Hudson can make Nolan light up like a bright day of sunshine. He can make Nolan laugh and laugh and laugh. It is amazing to watch the two of them together.

I am thankful my boys love each other. Hudson lights up every time he gets a smile from Nolan. "He smiled at me Momma", with an equally as impressive smile on his own face. He always wants to hold him. Only for a minute or two cause then of course he has important big boy things to do. Which usually get him trouble. I captured some pictures of them together the other day...

and then Leanna asked to take a picture... so I though what the heck. I don't have any of me with the boys so...

I am Also a Momma of Boys

I already had a girl. We were doing great with a girl. I could do girl things, tea parties, hair, dollies, finger nail painting, I mean I am a girl I am more likely to be able to raise a girl right? Right.

Well then we had our ultrasound and the tech said It's a boy. Stunned silence from me. And from Josh...well...OVERJOYED comes within 1/10th of the happiness, jubilation, celebration, party that occurred from my overly silent and controlled man. Me not so much. I FREAKED OUT (silently). Yeah that pretty much sums up my feelings as I lay there relieved that other than being a BOY everything was perfect and beautiful and BIG. (The ultrasound tech really likes to hurt a momma's feelings a boy and he is HUGE all in one day I mean give a girl a moment to process okay?)

Seriously for the next couple of months this was my thought process...

I mean come on he has different anatomy, he is gonna pee standing up, he is gonna like GI Joes, video games, burping and all that weird boy stuff...one question danced in my brain for months. How in the world do you be a mom to a boy? How do I teach him to pee (I really had issues with the potty training thing), open doors for ladies, to say excuse me, to be sensitve and caring.

I know I have issues but it was a stretch for this momma. It still is to this day to be honest. However I know am the momma to two beautiful (I am their momma I can call them that you must call them handsome just ask the boy who talks), active, all mine boys.

So as an encouragement to all mommas to boys or about to be mommas to boys....

I LOVE being a momma to boys... Some things I have learned, experienced, cried about and now I LOVE in the course of being a momma to a boy and now 2 boys to be exact.

Reasons being a momma to boys is awesome...

1. Hugs start with running leaps.
2. Saving money on clothes (however I imagine that I will eventually invest this savings into ER visits..I mean really have you met Hudson)
3. Finding new ways to race toy trucks and cars. (I mean really who knew that a plastic (Dinosaur of course) place mat curled up on the table makes toy cars move faster than the speed of light..I mean besides Hudson)
4. Little boys hold their breath while they close their eyes if sissy is changing in the same room as them (every.time.) or is that just Hudson?
5. Creepy crawly bugs are no longer scary when you have to identify every.single.one.by.name.
6. Boys squish those creepy crawly things after you identify them for them...you know if you scream and act really scared and stuff. (Male egos need to be stroked a little even at the age of 3 sadly.)
7. Wrestling matches in the middle of your bed.
8. They wink and say howdy ma'am all while tipping their cowboy hat if they are wearing it (or at least my guy does).
9. Snuggles. 'Nuff said.
10. He wants to save the momma/princess/queen from the evil daddy/king/dragon every time (even if all Daddy is trying to do is give the momma a kiss poor Daddy).

So whether you are the momma to girls (which I am and I love and there will be a separate post soon about those special little things I love too) or the momma to boys. They both are amazing and wonderful special things about all of them.

Me I am just lucky enough to be the momma to both!

A look into the past...picture style.

It is Christmas time and we all know what that means right? Hustle, bustle, stress, presents, parties, church stuff, Jesus' Birthday, Food, Family....

For me it also means pictures and lots of them!!!! I love pictures. I love to take them, to capture a moment and have it for all time. My children are often the obsession of my camera lens.

I have always taken pictures of Christmas events. ALL OF THEM. I thought it would be fun to see my family from the last few Christmases. (Since that is what I have handy today anyway :)...)

I give you Christmas 2006 (Please remember I was still taking pictures with a 3.2 megapixel camera here)

Leanna and Daddy (it was hard to get a good picture of Leanna at this age she would NEVER sit still)

Hudson's first Christmas.

Yeah this was as good as it got that night too :)

Christmas 2007...

Hudson wasn't too sure about Santa Claus but...

Leanna LOVED Santa Claus...Side Note: I had just given Leanna bangs not but a few weeks prior to this (weird what you remember when you see a picture isn't it?)

A litte side-eye action from Hudson and Leanna :)

Christmas 2008
A few months later we would announce that another baby would be joining our family before next Christmas.

Aren't they just sweet?

(I know... Holy longest scrolling post ever, Batman!) Thanks for taking a trip down memory lane with me. This years pictures will be even more of a change especially since we have added Nolan to the clan :)
